The increasing amount of data generated in digital learning contexts provides opportunities to benefit from learning analytics as well as challenges related to interoperability, privacy, and pedagogical and organizational models. As a consequence, new methodologies and technological tools are necessary to analyse and make sense of these data and provide personalized scaffolding and services to stakeholders including students, faculty/teachers and administrators, as well as parents. Pedagogical and organisational models must also be incorporated in order to take advantage of the personalized scaffolding and services to ensure productive learning and teaching. In addition, access to data from different sources raises a number of concerns related to data sharing and interoperability, and protection of privacy for individuals and business interests for institutions.
For the first time, ICCE 2017 will host a participatory workshop in standards-making being part of a ISO standards working group meeting. Standards are essential for the development and adoption of learning technologies. This workshop will provide a unique possibility for the ICCE community to take part in a meeting and to provide real input helping the design of standards. The context is a working group meeting of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC36's working group on learning analytics interoperability.
This will be a full day workshop; the morning session will be a mini-conference with paper presentations, and the afternoon session will be an opportunity to be introduced to and take part in a standards meeting in the field of LA.
The Call for contributions, include both workshop papers and requirement descriptions in the field of learning analytics tools and interoperability. For workshop papers both full papers (8-10 pages) and short papers (5-6 pages) are welcomed. The contributions of requirement descriptions should be brief, accompanied by a short note (max 3 pages); and/or maximum 8 presentation slides.
We call for papers that cover technical, theoretical, pedagogical, as well as organisational issues in learning analytics. Through this workshop we aim to provide the participants with an overview of the state-of-art in this domain, from a national, regional or organisational / institutional perspective.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Full papers (8 - 10 pages)

All accepted papers for mini-conference-style workshop will appear in one volume of workshop proceedings with ISBN and will be indexed by Elsevier Bibliographic Database. All paper should follow the paper format of the main conference.
