The Virtual Workshop on L3 Development After the Initial State (L3-AIS 2021), which will take place online on October 1st – 2nd, 2021, invites students to submit original abstracts for presentation at this workshop.
To date, the field of L3 acquisition research has had a heavy focus on the initial state of the L3 grammar. While this initial state research is critical to understanding L3 acquisition as a whole, in order for an explanatory understanding of language acquisition in the multilingual mind, the field needs to expand its scope beyond this area of focus.
This workshop aims to bring together L3 acquisition and multilingualism researchers in order to discuss the state of the field and bring new ideas related to the development of post-initial L3 knowledge, and the relationship among languages in the multilingual mind.
Submission Guidelines
We are inviting STUDENT both experimental and theoretical proposals within all linguistic domains (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics) which relate to topics such as (but not limited to):
- Early and Late L3 development
- Neurolinguistics of multilingualism
- Sequential and simultaneous trilingualism
- L1/L2 attrition in trilinguals
- Bi-directional cross-linguistic influence in multilinguals
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Select papers from this workshop will be published. More information on publishing to come.
Abstracts must be no longer than 500 words, and must be submitted by April 1st 2021.
