The 26th Japanese/Korean Linguistics Conference (JK26) will take place at UCLA, from November 29 to December 1, 2018. This year's JK will commemorate the recent passing of Professor Noriko Akatsuka, one of the original founders of the JK Conference. We welcome abstract submissions for 20-minute oral presentations followed by 10 minutes for discussion, and poster presentations. Contributions to any aspect of Japanese/Korean linguistics, or comparison of these languages with other languages, are welcome. Comparative studies of Japanese and Korean are especially encouraged.
JK26 will feature five invited presentations by the following distinguished scholars:
Min-Joo Kim (Texas Tech University) Mary Kim (University of Hawaii, Manoa) Haruo Kubozono (National Institute of Japanese Language and Linguistics, NINJAL) Sotaro Kita (Univ. of Warwick, England) Naomi McGloin (University of Wisconsin, Madison) for the Special Session on Prof. Akatsuka
Please use the space under ''Keywords'' to: enter four/five keywords that describe the study, and choose and enter one or two of the following eight categories for the abstract: (1) phonetics/phonology, (2) morphology, (3) formal/lexical semantics, (4) formal syntax, (5) functional/usage-based linguistics, (6) sociolinguistics/discourse/pragmatics/CA, (7) historical linguistics, and (8) psycholinguistics. Also indicate the preferred mode of presentation (oral, poster presentation, or either). Note that the proceedings volume (published by CSLI) will include only papers that are based on oral presentations. JK26 organizers also wish to solicit proposals for a satellite workshop to be held on either/both November 28 and December 2, 2018. Please send one page proposal with the name and affiliation of the organizer(s) and/or main participants.
