We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 6th International Transportation and Economic Development (ITED) Conference, to be held June 6-8, at the National Academy of Sciences Building on Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C.
At the ITED 2018 Conference we are looking forward to continuing the tradition of presenting innovative research, best practices, and exploring new challenges for providing transportations which supports economic development. As stated by the Federal Highway Administration, “livability and economic development are intertwined: livability draws businesses and businesses contribute to community quality of life through investments in the built environment, culture, and philanthropy.” There are a number of examples of businesses, housing, and services collocating to combine access to jobs and good schools, lower costs for living, and increased mobility and safer goods movement. Investments in new transportation infrastructure and technologies can also produce efficiency gains and stimulate new supply chains and jobs. Our goal is to foster highly constructive dialogue between researchers and practitioners, industry and government, and improve the collective understanding of transportations systems contributions to economic development.
ITED is more than transportation policy, facilities, or technology, per se. Rather, it is about their factors at the intersection with local, regional, state, mega-regional, national, and international economic development. As such, the theme for 2018 ITED is “Relationships between Multimodal Transportation & Economic Development: Policy, Infrastructure, & Technology.”
From around the globe, transportation industry experts, community planners, economists, economic developers, researchers, students, and everyone working on transportation factors for economic development are invited to submit, present, convene or simply attend the ITED conference and participate in discussions.
We look forward to see you in June at the International Transportation & Economic Development Conference.
