In this era of technological revolution, World Wide Web is continuously evolving and the content on the web is increasing exponentially. It is estimated that Internet contains more than 10 billion static pages of information which is accessed by more than 1000 million users spread across globe. It is highly difficult to maintain this enormous amount of data using natural languages. Resultantly, this enormous size of web content poses performance challenge for keyword based search engines despite sophisticated searching techniques. Hence, it significantly necessitates automated schemes for learning the relevant information. This issue is addressed with help of semantic web which aims to present the Internet data and web resources in a machine-readable form. This is accomplished by creating ontology and logic mechanisms. Semantic web building has attracted several researchers and thus has become an area of active research during past decade. This semantic web is further processed to infer and discover meaningful information using semantic web mining approaches. Thus, semantic web mining combines two exciting research areas viz. semantic web and web mining. Semantic web mining aims to develop methods for gaining insight of the WWW. It targets on identifying patterns from Web logs and data. It also focuses on mining information pertaining to semantic web thus enabling machines to understand the information available on WWW.
The proposed special session is the strongly connected to the conference theme. The Prime aim of this special session is to bring academicians, researchers and practitioners working in this field, together at one platform and discuss the current research trends in this field.
The proposed session basically aims to focus on Semantic Web and semantic web mining from a wider perspective. It also targets on design of intelligent systems for semantic web mining.
The proposed session can attract researchers in the field as its scope includes following topics, but not limited to:
