The IPEM Law Academy, Ghaziabad is organizing an International Seminar on “Sexual Offences Against Women” (ISSOAW 2021) on 10th APRIL 2021 (Saturday) to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Celebration of IPEM Group of Institutions.
Sexual offences are often considered as somehow inherentlydifferent from other forms of offences since timeimmemorial. Sexual offenders occupy a special place incontemporary society's secular demonology. Sexual crime isa mainstay of the tabloid and broadsheet news papers, whereoffenders become 'monsters', 'beasts' and 'sex fiends.'Concern about sexual crimes has become a panic andbarometer to study the development of civilization in aparticular society.
The present Seminar therefore tries to find out firstly, theoffences against women which are in essence sexual offencesagainst women and secondly the relevant law which coverssuch offences. An attempt shall be made to find out whetherthe present law is gender neutral or not. As consent is thebiggest factor in the determining the fact whether a particularsexual activity is an offence or not. The present Seminartherefore, focuses on the aspect of consent. Societies differ asto their perception of morality and with the passage of timehuman generation also changes its view and behaviourpattern.
