ISME'22: The International Symposium on Management and Engineering – 1st Edition

Presentation of the symposium

Researchers and practitioners are increasingly focused on the broad term resilience, which reflects the desire to understand the ability of organizational, technological, ecological, and social systems to function despite predictable and unpredictable changes.

We will focus on the discourse around the concept of resilience. This focus is based on the growing need for disruptive and chronic changes in social, environmental, and technical systems around the world. These include, for example, acute shocks in the form of social unrest, political conflict, natural hazards, pandemics, as well as chronic stressors such as climate change, social justice, financial instabilities, and their cascading impact. It is therefore necessary to deepen the paradigm of the concept of resilience.

The aim of this meeting is to initiate such a change and to prepare for the permanent construction of resilience, by soliciting interdisciplinary contributions from a range of fields and at different levels of analysis: individuals, teams/groups, projects, organizations, systems, industry, society, and territory. Contributions from broader but related disciplines in management, engineering, social sciences, natural sciences, or economics are welcome, as long as they touch on both themes of resilience.

The International Symposium on Management and Engineering ISME'22 under the theme of Management of Resilience is to be held on 12 and 13 October 2022 at ENSA Agadir Morocco, organized by the National School of Applied Sciences and the Laboratory of Systems Engineering and Decision Support of the IBN ZOHR University Agadir, in partnership with the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research Rabat and the Laboratory L-Qualimat of Cadi Ayyad University Marrakech, and the association Fairness-Africa, will be a meeting that aims to share and disseminate the various thoughts around the theme of resilience, and to synthesize the points of convergence and divergence between researchers from different disciplines, on resilience: its nature, determinants, drivers, and criteria for measurement and diagnosis, enabling higher education to provide answers to current and future resilience challenges.

We hope that this call will contribute to a paradigm change by reexamining our existing assumptions, falsifying and revising our theoretical foundations, critically exploring potential extensions, and ultimately enriching existing knowledge.
