ISITE Regional Research Conference on Information Technology Education (IRRCITE) is an annual academic undertaking where best student research projects (thesis and capstone projects) are presented and then critiqued and reviewed for adherence to established rules, scientific content, and presentation criteria set by the iSITE Research Committee (IRC). A Call for Paper is a formal invitation sent by the IRC to officially conduct IRRCITE.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
A. Submission of Research Entry i.e. Abstract and Research Paper
- Abstract and research paper submission is set on or before March 3, 2017. Kindly send entries to Dean Oliver Junio at omj@uphsl.edu.ph. cc: Dean Roselie Alday rba@lpubatangas.edu.ph
- Abstract should have a maximum of 150 words and must briefly mention the objectives of the study, the methodology used, results including significant new findings and conclusion/s. It should be typed single space in Arial font style, 12 point-font size.
- Include key terms characterizing major variables of the study.
- A 6-page research article excluding references should be prepared in IMRaD format.
- Confirmation of acceptance is one week after the date of submission.
B. Judging Rubric for Research Paper and Oral Presentation
1. Submitted research entry will be reviewed for adherence to established rules, scientific content, and presentation criteria set by the IRC.
2. The paper will be evaluated by a three-man panel of experts based on the following criteria: novelty of research topic, quality of research and significance, relevance and content of the paper. A two-part evaluation will be done: (1) after submission of entries, IRC will send the papers to invited evaluators for critical critiquing and (2) cross-examination during conference. Total score shall be computed using 60-40 proportion i.e. 60% of the total score will be based on the grade from submitted research paper and the remaining 40% of the total score will be based on the grade garnered by student-researchers during oral presentation.
3. Paper under investigation, insufficient in methodology, and lacking essential results and discussion, as well as conclusions will not be considered.
4. The final paper in IMRaD form should contain the following sections: Abstract; Introduction; Methods; Results and Discussion, including Conclusions and Recommendations, and References.
5. A maximum of 20 minutes will be given to researchers in order to discuss the content of entire paper. Five-minute cross- examination will follow if in case there are points of inquiry from a panelist. MS PowerPoint is the recommended format for paper presentation.
C. Layout Instructions for the Preparation of Research Paper
1. Prepare manuscript in a recommended writing paper size: 8 ½ in x 11 in
2. Recommended font style: Arial
3. Margins: • Top: 1.0 in • Bottom: 1.0 in • Right: 1.0 in • Left: 1.5 in
4. Title of Paper and Author(s)’ name(s) • Title of Paper-Capitalize all letters. Italicize scientific names of organisms. Use font size 14 points, bold and centre-aligned. • Author(s)-Type the presenter’s initial and surname in capital letters. For all other authors, capitalize only the initials and the first letter of surnames. Use 12-point font size, bold and centre-aligned.
5. Contents of the paper • The main body of the paper refers to its Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion including Conclusion/s and Recommendation (optional). • Use 12-point font size, bold for Heading, bold for italic Subheading, type text single space and left justified. For uniform presentation of the citations, capitalize only the first letter of the family names and initials of the given names of the author/s. Arrange authors alphabetically by their surnames. • The whole paper should not exceed a total of 10 pages including all tables and figures.
D. Preparing the Presentation using MS PowerPoint
1. Recommended font: Arial
2. Recommended number of slides: 20-25 (approximately one slide per minute of discussion)
3. Important sections which should be included are as follows: • Title of the Paper and Author(s)’ name(s) including Course/Program • Abstract
• Introduction
• Methods
• Results
• Discussion
• Conclusion(s) and Recommendation(s)
• Acknowledgement (if there is any)
4. Make headings and textual discussion concise and informative.
5. Refrain from inserting too much heavy graphics and animated clipart.
6. Make the presentation eye- and reader-friendly, and make use of good color contrast scheme.
