Three streams of ideas converged to decide the theme of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) International Research Conference. One, scholarship gravitating towards making research more relevant to the practice of management; two, the compelling requirement of re-redesigning business models, processes, and delivery mechanisms triggered by uncertainties and flux in the external environment due to the pandemic, climate change, and the disturbing trend of increasing ideological intolerance across continents and communities; and three, the increasing realization due to the pandemic of getting the employee well-being to the centerstage of organizational design and processes. Probably at no era of human history is human centricity, the role of their intentionality, and cognitive boldness more important than it is in the current times. Our collective past actions, aimed at maximizing short-term gains and failing to take a systemic view of things, are fast thrusting the world towards a path of self-annihilation. Scholarship must stand up to the occasion and contribute significantly to shaping the perceptions of people for creating a better and sustainable future. The quest for creating a better world reflects in the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations that have been recently incorporated in the standard IX by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The model below shows the design rationale of the conference.
Keeping in view the contextual realities and the goals of SDGs, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management is pleased to announce a oneday International Research Conference acronymed IRC2022 that focuses on operationalizing four goals of the SDGs: a) Good health and well-being (goal three), b) Quality education (goal four), c) Decent work and economic growth (goal eight), and d) Responsible consumption and production (goal twelve). We foresee a confluence of scholars across continents, disciplines, and methodologies and engaging conversations during the conference, resulting in a few key takeaways for everyone to implement and contribute to creating a better and sustainable future.
The conference aims to operationalize four SGDs of the United Nations — good health and wellbeing, quality education, decent work and economic growth, and responsible consumption and production— by carrying out novel, rigorous and impactful research.
