IITMDRS 2021 is an intra-departmental conference hosted by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT-Madras. The in-house symposium aims to bring together research scholars from across functions to present and discuss their research with senior academicians and get collaborative support from the research fraternity. As part of the symposium, the scholars of DoMS will present their research, along with other guest speaker sessions, workshops and other activities planned.
Submission Guidelines
We welcome the following categories of papers submission under two tracks from research scholars
A. Advanced Research Track
1. Empirical papers
2. Review papers
B. Early Research Track
1. Work-in-Progress papers
2. Poster presentation
Research scholars can opt for a particular category and identify the paper type they wish to submit and prepare accordingly. Following are guidelines for paper category selection and submission.
Papers categories to be submitted under Advanced Research Track
a) Empirical Papers
Submission elaborating on novel concepts, methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches having theoretical and practical implications are invited under this category. These papers are expected to follow rigour and documentation similar to top-notch journal submission. Authors must provide a brief introduction, appropriate theoretical background, research objectives, methodology, findings, discussion of results and contribution to the current knowledge domain.
b) Review Papers
Submission providing a well-structured overview of the existing literature in a particular area in management discipline are invited under this category. This review paper should mention the rationale for research methodology and showcase the distinct position of one’s review paper w.r.t other review papers in the same domain. Authors must justify the research problem or questions while presenting the literature review. The review paper should systematically review the existing empirical and theoretical studies, methods employed and critically analyse their research findings. Authors can select various themes to critically review methodologies, empirical insights, theories and literature gaps.
Papers categories to be submitted under Early Research Track
a) Work-in-Progress
Papers Submissions on ongoing research/project work with promising contributions and are yet to be completed in the management discipline are invited under this category. Working papers describing theoretical frameworks, initial stage empirical results, or novel methodology design fall under this category. Authors can explain their work and how they propose to finalise their study.
b) Poster presentation
Early Research Track invites poster presentation. We are looking forward to maximum participation from scholars. Scholars need to address questions post-presentation as part of the Q&A session.
Instructions for Poster preparation
1. Text size should be 16-18 in the poster.
2. The size should be A1 (594mm x 849 mm).
3. Please use Portrait Orientation
4. Organize the poster into relevant sections (max:5- background, motivation, objective, proposed methodology, and implications)
5. Restrict the number of references (max:5)
6. Avoid densely packed or high word count in posters
7. Include relevant figures to enhance the visual appeal
8. Choose neutral or greyish colours over bright colours for poster background
9. File format: .ppt/.pptx only
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
The poster submission is expected to adhere to the following guidelines as discussed below:
[1] Posters should be a single page .ppt/.pptx file in portrait orientation
[2] Technical specifications of the poster to be kept in mind
- Video formats: .mp4, .mpg, .mov, .avi
- Max. file size: 100 MB
[3] The presentation should not exceed the time limit of 5 minutes.
The manuscript is expected to adhere to the following guidelines as discussed below:
[1] Papers should be submitted as PDF documents.
[2] Authors should check plagiarism in their final papers before submission.
[3] The paper PDF document should not contain the author details as it undergoes a double-blind review process.
[4] All contributing authors’ names should be included with full names, email addresses in the submission portal only and not in the uploaded pdf.
[5] The length of the paper includes overall textual data, tables, figures, and references.
- a. Empirical papers - 7000 - 12000 words.
- b. Review papers (SLR) - 7000 - 12000 words.
- c. Review papers (Mini-reviews) - 4000-6000 words
- d. Work-in-progress papers - 4000-7000 words
[6] The margins should be kept 1’’ on all sides.
[7] The font size of 12 Times New Roman and has double line spacing.
[8] References follow APA referencing style.
[9] Submitted manuscripts should include and not be restricted to the following sections
- ✓ Title - should not be more than ten words.
- ✓ Structured Abstract - Maximum is 250 words in total (including keywords and article classification).
- ✓ Abstract constitute several subheadings: Purpose, Design/methodology/approach, Findings, Research limitations/implications (if applicable), Practical/Social/Theoretical implications and Originality/value
- ✓ Keywords: Authors should provide appropriate and short keywords (not more than five keywords)
- ✓ Introduction,
- ✓ Literature review/Theoretical background/ Hypotheses development,
- ✓ Research Methodology,
- ✓ Analysis/Findings/Results,
- ✓ Discussion of Findings/Results,
- ✓ Limitations, and
- ✓ Study Implications.
