The 3rd International Conference on Geospatial Information Sciences (iGISc) aims to bring together international experts in the field of Geospatial Information Sciences (GISc) to foster the exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences. The conference hosts a broad array of subjects related to the acquisition, processing, modeling, analysis, visualization, and use of Geospatial Information.
All submitted papers will be subject to a strict double-blind peer review process via EasyChair. Submissions will be evaluated based on the relevance of its contribution to the field of Geospatial Information Sciences, its clarity, and its originality. Accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings Volume with an ISBN and ISSN.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Due to the hybrid format of the conference, remote and face-to-face oral sessions will be held. Accepted papers will be presented either in spanish or english, in person except those registered for remote presentation. Papers will be received in English. Accepted papers will be published as part of the conference proceedings and those.
All papers will be double-blind peer reviewed by members of the scientific committee to ensure that:
- The paper is relevant to the iGISc Conference and to the GISc area.
- The paper presents an original work or work in progress.
- The paper is of suitable length and format.
- The standard of English is adequate.
- The paper is properly referenced.
- Full Papers must not exceed 10000 words in length, including abstract, figures, references and appendices for a total of 15 pages letter format.
- Papers must be submitted according to templates provided in the Author’s Guide section in the conference website. Templates for Word and LaTex are provided.
- The file format for submissions is Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Other formats will not be accepted.
- You should not modify any of the formatting commands in the style files.
- References should follow the referencing style provided in the templates.
- Accepted Papers will be published in the conference proceedings* provided at least one author completes registration (including payment)**.
- Authors will be required to make an oral presentation (Spanish/English), in person except those registered for remote presentation.
- Those who will present virtually will make their presentation through the video conference platform designated by the conference and must submit a video-recorded version of their presentation. Pre-recorded presentations may be played at the event if a live presentation is not possible.
- If multiple papers are accepted for publication and presentation by the same author, each paper requires a registration fee to be included in the proceedings**.

Remote sensing is a discipline based on Earth physics and technology to develop, capture, process, and analyze data obtained with sensors from space, airborne, ground, or marine platforms. The topics include but are not limited to:

Geospatial Data Science and Computational Geointelligence
Geospatial Data Science (GDS) and Computational Geointelligence (CG) are research areas that integrate methods and technology to tackle problems using geospatial data as a key to problem understanding and solving. CG considers artificial intelligence methods that intend to emulate human intelligence and approximate reasoning to solve complex problems in a geospatial context. On the other hand, GDS emerges as an interdisciplinary research area that includes mathematics, statistics, and computer science, to build and improve the usage of geospatial information through data extraction, management, processing, analysis, visualization, and interpretation. Urban and Regional Studies
Urban and regional studies integrate tools, methods, techniques, and technologies typical of the Geospatial Information Sciences field to describe, evaluate and explain urban and regional dynamics, as well as generate models capable of reducing uncertainty within public policies, both with multiscale quantitative and qualitative approaches. The topics include but are not limited to:

Socio-ecological systems
This research area focuses on generating socio-ecological knowledge with a territorial perspective through an inter and transdisciplinary vision, which implies co-production and dialogue in close connection with other academic, social and governmental institutions to promote regional, rural, and urban development processes with an impact on the design of public policy and support for decision-making in territorial planning. The topics include but are not limited to:

Territory, Conflict and Power Relations
Territorial studies from a political perspective are characterized by different modes of appropriation of the land and particular tensions that emerge as a result of the social dispute over its control. Thus, gen-erating distinctive geographical and spatial effects. By exploring the articulation between conflict, insti-tutions (formal and informal) and land appropriation at different scales of territory, this session seeks presentations on different analyzes that contribute to the field, special emphasis is given to multidisci-plinary research, the use of geospatial tools and geopolitical analysis in the following areas of knowledge:
- Migration, borders and violence
- Megaprojects, extractivism and territorial disputes
- Environment, governance and conflict
- Interdisciplinary Landscape Perspectives
- Territories of the city and contemporary urban inequalities (city, housing, public space, gender, among other topics)
Venue
iGISc 2023 will be a hybrid conference that will run fully in-person and fully virtually and will take place at Mexico City. The conference is designed and meant to be a hybrid conference to take advantage of the best that the two modalities can offer and both the location of the conference and the virtual platform will be announced through the conference website.
