IEEE Blockchain Technical Briefs is a quarterly publication launched in July 2018. It features timely technical articles to inform and advance blockchain and related technologies. The publication is proactively promoted through the IEEE Blockchain Initiative. This publication arms the professional practitioner, as well as the casual observer, with excellent knowledge in a concise, readable, and practical format.
IEEE Blockchain Technical Briefs is home to information and collaboration that pushes out new and innovative thoughts. The publication will explore new blockchain designs, challenges, innovative technologies, applications, standards, etc. It will serve as a place to foster research, education, and innovation across different industries.
We encourage you to write at the architectural level, not at the design level. The article may mention company or organizational efforts; however, direct marketing is prohibited; keep content free from commercial agendas and objectives.
Submission Guidelines
We invite articles from a broad scope of writers that do not have to be members of IEEE. Although there there is no specific template for authors to use, we advise them to submit the articles in PDF format. For reference, the IEEE Software-Defined Networks (IEEE SDN) Newsletter, IEEE Softwarization are similar type of publications, as far as look and style of articles. The article must also include a brief bio (100-300 words) of all authors, including details of their IEEE affiliation and photo (headshot).
We follow a single-blind review process. The responsible editor will ensure compliance of the article to editorial guidelines and start the review process. Editor will provide feedback and high-level comments to the author for consideration. The Editor-in-Chief will also review the article, when finalized and prior to publication.
Understandability of audience:
The articles should be conceptual in nature and needs to be understood by readers, who may not have domain expertise or advanced knowledge of the topics.
Article Length:
1200-3000 words, excluding references. If the article is longer than 3000 words, please contact the Managing Editor (blk-editor@ieee.org) in advance.
Citations:
At the end of the article, please cite all sources referenced (the reference section is not included in the word count). Hyperlinks within the article are acceptable, but do not count as citation and still need to be included in the reference section at the end of the document. Use the IEEE style of citations.
Pictures and Graphics:
Please only use pictures or graphics that you have the right to use or cite.

Articles should be submitted 4-6 weeks ahead of publishing date for possible consideration in the upcoming issue. For example, for an article to appear in the December issue, the article should be submitted by early November.
