The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is proud to organize the 3rd edition of the International Cross-industry Safety Conference (ICSC) together with the 6th edition of the European STAMP Workshop and Conference (ESWC), both events dedicated to practical and theoretical aspects of safety. The ICSC aims to function as a platform to disseminate and share knowledge and experience about safety within and between industry and academia. The ESWC focuses on applications and studies related to the Systems-Theoretic Accident Model and Processes (STAMP) which is a new systems-thinking approach to engineering safer systems. This year’s common theme for both conferences is “Safety Management: Structures or Networks?”.
International Cross-industry Safety Conference (ICSC)
For all industry sectors safety is one of the main focal points. Organizations have recognized that safety improvements contribute to the achievement of broader business goals. The ICSC is a unique opportunity to bring together the various industry sectors and academia. The event aims to function as a platform for disseminating and sharing knowledge and experience about safety and intends to grow further and become a hub for discussing current and future safety challenges and ways to deal with those.
European STAMP Workshop and Conference (ESWC)
Traditional system safety approaches are being challenged by the introduction of new technology and the increasing complexity of the systems we design, manufacture and operate. STAMP and its associated tools deal with the complexity of systems and provide systematic ways to analyze and assess existing and conceptual systems proactively or detect and illustrate deficiencies revealed through investigations. The EWSC brings together researchers and practitioners who use or want to get familiar with, STAMP that is widely used in different sectors such as space, aviation, healthcare, defence, nuclear, railways, infrastructure and automotive.
Submission Guidelines
Researchers and practitioners from the academia and industry are invited to submit an abstract (up to 400 words) on original research or practical experiences. Proposals for tutorials and workshops are also welcome. Possible topics for the ICSC may include but are not limited to: safety management, safety performance, safety culture, resilience, risk assessment, new safety thinking etc. The ESWC topics are expected to cover relevant research or practical studies using STAMP / CAST / STPA, or application positions under development.
Authors must select the conference(s) of interest and suggest the form of their contribution(s): tutorial/workshop, full paper (presented or poster) or oral presentation. Contributions for both conferences are welcome if they cover different topics.
Abstracts can be uploaded to the Easychair system until 10 June 2018 through the following links:
ICSC 2018: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icsc20180
ESWC 2018: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=eswc20180
The program committees will evaluate the proposed contributions on the basis of their relevance to the goals of each conference and their importance for the industry and academia. The contributors will be informed accordingly until 29 June 2018.
Full papers, posters, oral presentations and tutorials/workshops
Upon abstract acceptance, full papers must be submitted before 30 September 2018. A template and further instructions will be provided to the authors in time.
All presentations will take place in chaired sessions of 25 minutes including questions and answering time. Poster sessions will be offered as part of the program. The tutorials and workshops will be delivered on the 31st of October and the topics will be selected based on expected impact and variety.
