BACKGROUND
With the upcoming challenge of Industry 4.0, that is broadly defined as the current and developing environment in which disruptive technologies and trends such as the nternet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR), and artifical intelligence, the way we live and work might change. Furthermore, the inequality that currently exists can be more severe due to inability of underprivileged people to catch up with the development itselft. A notion of inclusive development is necessary, so that technological advancement can bring more inclusive growth and better social welfare for all people in Indonesia rather than excluding underprivileged people in the process. On the other hand, his is also an opportunity to open new jobs, establish frugal innovation, and even implementing better governance process if only we are able to understand the potentials that Indonesia already has. As a starting point, we feel our milestone can first be attained with this so-called the second International Conference on Indonesian Development (ICID). It is a movement of people who are concerned about Indonesia. In this event, participants bring their ideas, opinions, expertise, and experiences to take part in conceptualizing the future of Indonesian development. This is not time-wrapped that after this event sudden positive change will happen to Indonesia, which is not plausible. But, by sharing ideas, discussing about future Indonesia and more important raising our spirit as the Indonesian youth, we can dream that after this continuous event, fifteen or twenty years later we can see better Indonesia. We believe that by spirit of Indonesian youth we can look for positive outlook, that is the flame ready to burn, and we are now here to start lighting the torch with upbringing the theme:
”Inclusive Development in Facing Industry 4.0: Opportunities and Challenges in Indonesia”
