Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) is a dynamic state university that is listed in the first-class universities group in Indonesia. UNS is now on its way in pursuing the status of world class university. Strengthening the university international networking by hosting international conferences is thought to be an effective strategy to meet the aim. In accordance with the UNS strategy, Faculty of Agriculture will organize the 4th International Conferences on Food Science and Engineering (ICFSE) 2022.
The previous ICFSE editions have been successfully held biannually from 2016 to 2020 resulting in hundreds of papers published in the partner proceeding and journal indexed by Scopus. Following the success of the previous ICFSE edition and the great enthusiasm of the audience, the next ICFSE edition is urged to be held this year. The 4th ICFSE will involve prominent speakers from reputable universities that have been collaborating with UNS for years. Some of them are from Ghent University (Belgium), the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), Hiroshima University (Japan) and Estonian University of Life Sciences (Estonia). and Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia). The 4th ICFSE is planned to be held on 11-12 October 2022 by online platform. This conference will bring a theme of “Strengthening Sustainable Food Ecosystem through Innovation in Food Science and Engineering“.
It must be realized that the sustainable supply of energy, clean freshwater, and foods for human kinds are among the most significant challenges for the future. Food science and process engineering are involved in all those challenges directly or indirectly. Food nutrition, safety and security are also important factors that require a serious attention. The decreasing amount of arable farmland and the rapid growth of human population forced the experts to find new concepts to feed the world through innovative research in the field of food science and engineering. The effort must be supported by the understanding and cooperation between scholars and practitioners all over the world in facing and solving the problems that might appear.
Hence, the event of the 4th ICFSE is designed to facilitate the needs of academicians, researchers, policy makers, governmental and private agencies in disclosing and sharing their knowledge and experiences in addressing issues related to food science and engineering. In previous conference, selected papers have been successfully published in IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science 828, Number 1 (link: https://iopscience.iop.org/issue/1755-1315/828/1) and the special issue of a Scopus indexed Journal (Q3) namely Food Research (https://www.myfoodresearch.com/vol-59474supplementary-2.html). Alternatively, the authors also have an opportunity to publish their work in “Caraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture” (Sinta 2, submitted to Scopus indexing) (https://jurnal.uns.ac.id/carakatani/). This year event will maintain these two publication strategies in order to contribute to the achievement of the Key Performance Indicators of UNS.
