We are pleased to host this exciting conference. We expect nearly 300 attendees from around the world, and our invited speakers, networking events and technical sessions offer something for everyone.
We are confident you will enjoy your visit to National I-Lan University, Yilan county. Former names of Yilan include Kavalan, La-A-Lan, and E-A-Lan. Before (about two hundred years ago) the Han (Chinese) started cultivating the land, the Kavalans were the most privileged tribe to live on the plains.
From Taipei to Yilan only needs 50 minutes which attracts more and more tourists from Taipei City. Attraction spots including Cilan Forest Recreation Area, Cueifong Lake, Dongshan River Water Park, Jiaosi Hot Spring, and Luodong Night Market. Moreover, the Suao Cold Spring is a rare phenomenon that only exists in two places in the world, in Taiwan’s Yilan and Italy. Don’t miss traveling to Yilan.
We will keep you informed of important dates and deadlines in relation to the conference on this website and via email. We hope that you will plan to attend and participate in what is sure to be a conference with benefits as big as Yilan!

Abstract Submission
The submitted papers must not have been published or under the consideration for publication in any other journal or conference with formal proceedings.
All papers must be written in English with a maximum paper length of FOUR (4) printed pages (10-point font) including figures, in two-column format. Page numbers are not required in the paper; please remove page numbers before you upload.
- Oral presentations
The official language of the Symposium is English. Each oral presentation is allocated 20 minutes, of these the last 5 minutes shall be used for questions, discussion and change over.
Presenters should be in the session room 15 minutes before the session begins to meet with the session chair, who should be near the stage/lectern. Presentations shall be uploaded to the ICEO&SI 2017 computer in the presentation room during the break before the session. Presenters are advised when uploading their presentation to check if formulas/animations are shown correctly. An author preparation area equipped with computers will be available for the authors to check their presentations. If presenters wish to practice setting up the slides or pre-load them onto the provided computer, this has to be done before the session begins.
Each presentation room is equipped with one computer/video projector, a microphone, a lectern, and a pointing device. The software installed on the computer includes:
Windows 7
MS Office 2010 Professional (Power Point, Word)
Adobe Acrobat Reader X
Internet Explorer 8
Windows Media Player 12
The media player is only available with the standard codecs. Use of standard True Type fonts is suggested for PowerPoint presentations. In the case PowerPoint contains videos, please ensure that both files (Power Point and video - MPG AVI) are in the same folder. As baseline, presentations from personal laptops are not allowed, to ensure a smooth programme running and to minimise transition time between presentations. The possibility to present from PCs other than the session room PC is not foreseen.
- Poster Presentations
For each paper accepted within a poster session, one poster board in portrait format is reserved with a dimension of 90 cm (width) x 120 cm (height).
Posters shall be on display during the day dedicated to the specific poster session. Authors are invited to be on stand-by near their posters during the session breaks and must be near their poster during the dedicated poster session at 09:00~16:50 (26、27, June 2017). Please prepare a short presentation of about 5 or 10 minutes that you can periodically give to those assembled around your poster throughout the 2-hour poster session. If possible, more than one author should attend the session to aid in presentations and discussions, and to provide the presenters with the chance to rest or briefly view other posters.
