Crowded spaces and mass gathering events become characteristics of modern cities around the world due to the continuing increase in urban world population and the dramatic changes in the lifestyle. Public transport terminals, commercial areas, festivals, sports events, and religious rituals are examples of crowded spaces and events in modern cities. Planning for anticipated crowd and management of crowded spaces are necessary to avoid accidents, minimize hazards and life losses. Therefore, research in crowd dynamics and crowd risk analysis gets more attention in different domains.

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa and the Highway and Transportation Research Association have teamed up to organize the First International Conference on Crowd Engineering and Management (ICCEM) to bring together experts from different research areas such as urban planning, engineering, psychology, sociology, economy, security and safety. ICCEM2023 endeavors to become a common house for these experts to exchange ideas and expertise about crowd engineering and management and discuss the future directions of development in this important field. Therefore, researchers, service providers, and all stakeholders are invited to participate in ICCEM2023 and contribute to the presentations, posters, demonstrations and discussions to create synergies among different interested groups in this important field.
