Welcome to ICAME42 in Dortmund!
ICAME42 - Crossing Boundaries Through Corpora
We are happy to announce the 42nd ICAME conference organized by the Chairs of English Linguistics at TU Dortmund University August 18-21, 2021. The conference theme is “Crossing Boundaries through Corpora”.
ICAME is an international conference for corpus-based approaches to English. Due to the current situation, ICAME42 is planned as a hybrid on-site and online conference. The following types of presentations will be offered:
1) plenaries, 2) on-site paper presentations, including work-in-progress reports and software demos, 3) recorded paper presentations and software demos, 4) research blurbs (on-site: poster/off- site: short video-clips).
The following keynote speakers (in alphabetical order) have confirmed their participation:

Submission Guidelines
Call for papers
We invite abstracts for the following presentation formats.
Please state on your submission which of the following options is your prefered one.
- Full paper (on-site): 20 + 10 mins discussion
- Full paper (off-site asynchronous): 20 mins
- Software demonstration: 30 mins on-site
- Software demonstration: 30 mins off-site asynchronous
- Short paper / Work-in-progress report (on-site: 10 mins)
- Short paper /Work-in-progress report (off-site asynchronous: 10 mins)
- Research blurb (on-site as posters)
- Research blurb (off-site as prerecorded video presentations: 3-5 mins
Abstracts must be anonymized and not exceed 500 words (incl. references). They should clearly state research question(s), approach, method, data and (expected) results. Authors are allowed to submit two abstracts if at least one paper is co-authored. We accept submissions via EasyChair until November 30, 2020. Notification of acceptance will be sent by mid-January 2021.

Call for workshops and tutorials
We also invite proposals for pre-conference workshops and tutorials to be held on Wednesday, August 18th. If you would like to convene a workshop, please send your proposal to icame42@tu-dortmund.de by October 15th, 2020. if the workshop is accepted, workshop conveners will be responsible for the call and peer revewing of the submissions, which should be completed by before Dec. 31st, 2020.
Registration and on-site participants
For conference attendance we offer the option of both on-site and virtual, off-site participation. Due to the Corona situation, there may be restrictions on the number of on-site participants. FOr on-site participation, a first-come first-serve basis will apply in case of restrictions. After January 31st, registration for on-site presentation may not be available anymore and only registration for virtual participation may be possible.
