Beyond Languages: Reinventing Discourses, Contexts and Communities
As a modernist invention, applied linguistics in the 20th century has been motivated by descriptions of the phenomenon called “language”. While this has yielded in novel insights on the uses of language in communities, scholars of the post-modern era have pushed for reformulating definitions of language resulting from the effects of globalization. That is, modernist formulations of language cannot accurately describe the trajectory of language use among communities due to migration, hybridity and communication technologies. Thus, the organizers of the ICALLE conference invites presentations on the theme Beyond Languages: Reinventing Discourses, Contexts and Communities. We are interested in featuring papers on the following topical areas:
Multilingual Communities and Education
Issues on Linguistic Description
Sociolinguistics and Changing Communities
Multimodality and Applied Linguistics
Issues in Language and Literature Teaching
Technology in Language Education
Assessment in Language and Literature Teaching
Language and Migration
