The Himalayan Languages Symposium is the premiere international conference dealing with the languages, linguistics and anthropology of the Trans-Himalayan area.
Submission Guidelines
Papers are invited which address any aspect of the languages and linguistics of the Trans-Himalayan area. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, typology, and documentation, including field reports and empirically-based ethnographic studies. Papers are not limited to the Trans-Himalayan language family, but may treat any language traditionally spoken within the Trans-Himalayan area, including Indo-Aryan, Tai-Kadai, Austro-Asiatic, and Hmong-Mien languages, as well as isolates, pidgins and creoles.
In observance of this International Year of Indigenous Languages, we particularly welcome papers specifically addressing the study and conservation of the many minority and Indigenous languages falling within the Trans-Himalayan area, and papers authored by a minority or Indigenous linguist.
Abstracts should be no more than 500 words, single-spaced, exclusive of data and references (if any), and should be written in English. Abstracts should be submitted via Easychair.org: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hls25. The submission deadline for paper abstracts is April 5, 2019. Notification will be approximately two weeks afterward.
