We invite you to attend the third edition of the HCI and the Educational Technology Revolution #HCIed workshop. Over the years, the HCI Educators series has studied many challenges for the teaching and learning of Human-Computer Interaction at a time of radical educational change. The #HCIed workshop has been a safe haven for practitioners to discuss these challenges and turn them into opportunities, be it the emergence of MOOCs in the early-to-mid-2010s, or the proliferation of video and flipped classrooms in more recent years.
In this edition of the workshop we turn our attention to emergent technologies which are being incorporated into education in its broadest sense.
Submission Guidelines
As in the parent conference, all submissions must be formatted according to the ACM SIG format:
1. Word: https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template, Interim Template
2. LaTeX through Overleaf: SIGCONF template https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/association-for-computing-machinery-acm-sig-proceedings-template/bmvfhcdnxfty
A committee of expert reviewers will review all submissions (see below for the reviewing process).
At least one author per paper must register for the workshop. Authors of accepted papers will be expected to give a 10 minutes presentation at the workshop and contribute in the world-café and related discussions.
Reviewing process
All papers will be reviewed by at least two domain experts from the program committee. Review decisions will be final. The authors of accepted papers are then expected to resubmit a revised version taking into account the comments made in the reviews.
Topics
The HCI Educators series has studied many challenges for the teaching and learning of Human-Computer Interaction at a time of radical educational change. The #HCIed workshop has been a safe haven for practitioners to discuss these challenges and opportunities, be it the emergence of MOOCs in the early-to-mid-2010s (in HCIed 2016), or the proliferation of video and flipped classrooms in more recent years (in HCIed 2018).
We now ask the community to contribute to a discussion on how can emergent technologies be used to develop skills and foster creativity, ranging from the experiential (i.e. anecdotal evidence) to the theoretical (including proposals to curriculum change). For example:
- Virtual Reality (VR) uses in education.
- Augmented Realities (AR) in education and visualisation.
- Mixed Realities (MR) applications for formal and informal education.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)... and more.
