1st Announcement
3rd. Global Conference on Theory and Applications of OR/OM for Sustainability (GCTAOS)
Disruptive approaches to tackling global risk and moving forward the world sustainability agenda
2021.6.18-2021.6.21
Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai, China
Today, the world is facing major changes. Global non-traditional security issues such as virus disaster, climate change, trade conservatism, food security, resource shortage, cyber-attacks, population explosion, environmental pollution, epidemic diseases and transnational crimes are emerging, posing severe challenges to the international order and sustainable development of human existence. How to use theory, technology, tools and methods of computer science, management science, operational research, and operational management to tackle the variety of problems and to effectively contribute to sustainable development has been one of the most important issues that scholars, practitioners and policy-makers from all disciplines are requested to address.
The Global Conference on OR/OM for Sustainability (GCTAOS) has been successfully held twice, in 2015 and 2017 in Barcelona-Spain and Beijing-China, respectively. The organization of the Third Global Conference on Sustainability - GCTAOS (Shanghai, June 2021) will strengthen a complementary and broader perspective, including disruptive technology, policies for sustainable development, in addition to traditional operations management, management science, business models, big data, risk analysis, and disaster management as well. This unique global scale event has the primary intention to bring politicians, policy-makers, practitioners and academics from all over the world to discuss the future of the planet based on the collaborative work of all the stakeholders and delineate policies, strategies and solution approaches strongly based on robust and proven scientific knowledge. This should be a unique opportunity to share experiences and move forward the current climate change and sustainability world agenda underpinned on the scientific use of data as an essential source to make better decisions. As it has been widely discussed, big data is the primary source to design mathematical models and solution methods that could provide smart tools for decision-making on a vast arrange of traditional operations and businesses management problems. In this new sustainable setting, problems have become more complex and difficult to solve. Thus decision-makers and policy-makers are aware of the need for a fresh and new body of knowledge and an improved set of solution approaches that integrate disruptive technologies, mathematical models and solution methods to address a wide variety of business and operations management problems under the climate change and sustainability domain. In past conferences, outstanding top-tier journals supported Special Issues dedicated to the Conference. Among others European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering, Journal of Cleaner Production and Sustainability. We expect to collaborate with the co-organizers to have a least four special issues in top-tier journals. Outstanding and exceptional scholars have been invited as plenary and key speakers, all of them Editors in Chief of Journals such as Omega, Transportation Research Part E, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, International Journal of Production Research among others.
To ensure a high quality of submissions and presentation of papers in the conference, the International Scientific Committee Program is formed by over 90% of scholars serving as editors on top-tier journals.
This is a highly reputed non-massive scientific event with amazing impacts for the attendants, with the possibility to get fresh and first-hand cutting-edge knowledge, interact with reputed scholars and decision and policy-makers, and a unique opportunity to enhance your network. Please see further information of the past 2017 conference in the link provided in the site.
