FabLearn Dialogues is the event for sharing and developing knowledge and insights on “learning by making” for local, national and international practitioners, experts and advocates in maker education who want to create space for maker education in their own practice. Such as primary and secondary school teachers, teachers in higher education institutions, researchers and makerspace instructors.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Practitioner experiences describing own practice in maker education: pitfalls rather than success stories; not "what works", but "what worked, for whom, under what circumstances".
- Research experiences describing empirical evidence from the field – again: "what worked, for whom, under what circumstances".
- Advocacy experiences describing pitfalls and successes of promoting maker education in schools and elsewhere.
On submission you will be asked to assign your proposal to one of these three categories.
We have a two-stage submission process; we ask for (long) abstract submission of up to 4000 words. Please use the following structure for your abstracts:
- Purpose of the submission – What are the reason(s) for writing the paper or the aims of the research?
- Design/methodology/approach – How are the objectives achieved? Include the main method(s) used for the research. What is the approach to the topic and what is the theoretical or subject scope of the paper?
- Data/sample – What data has been collected (if any) and how?
- Findings – What was found in the course of the work? This will refer to analysis, discussion, or results.
- Research limitations/implications – If research is reported on in the paper this section must be completed and should include suggestions for future research and any identified limitations in the research process.
- Practical implications – What outcomes and implications for practice, applications and consequences are identified? Not all papers will have practical implications but most will. What changes to practice should be made as a result of this research/paper?
- Original value of paper – What is new in the paper? State the value of the paper and to whom.
Your abstracts will be peer reviewed, and if accepted you will be invited to revise your submission and contribute at the conference.
