The Institution of Engineers (India) or IEI is the largest multidisciplinary professional body that encompasses 15 engineering disciplines and gives engineers a global platform for sharing professional interest. IEI has membership strength of above 0.8 million. Established in 1920, with its headquarter at 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata-700020, IEI has served the engineering fraternity close to a century. During this period of time, IEI has been inextricably linked with the history of modern-day engineering.
In 1935, IEI was incorporated by Royal Charter and remains the only professional body in India which has been accorded this honour. Today, its quest for professional excellence has given it a place of pride in almost every prestigious and relevant organization across the globe. It provides a vast array of technical, professional and supporting services to the Government, Industries, Academia and the Engineering fraternity, operating through its 125 Centres located across the country and 6 overseas chapters. Besides, IEI has bilateral agreements with about 31 international bodies and membership of another 8 international bodies of the developed nations across the globe. Being recognized as a Scientific and Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, IEI promotes the cause of research and development by providing Grant-in-Aid support to undergraduate, post graduate students and PhD Research Scholars of Engineering Institutions and Universities.
IEI in collaboration with Springer regularly publishes peer-reviewed international journal in five series, namely, Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D and Series E covering fifteen engineering disciplines.

CALL FOR PAPERS
We are pleased to share that Durgapur Local Centre the Best Local Centre (2018-19) of The Institution of Engineers (India) is organising 35th National Convention of Production Engineers on the theme ‘Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Manufacturing’ during May 23-24,2020.
Sustainable manufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically- sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. Sustainable manufacturing also enhances employee, community and product safety. Successful manufacturing organizations recognize that environmental responsibility is not only good for business, but also becoming an integral part of the way product is marketed, purchased and operated. Hence, it is important to consider sustainability at all levels of the product life cycle since inception to output. Sustainable or green manufacturing minimizes wastes which are to be obtained by adopting practices that will influence the product design, process design and operational principles. Therefore, sustainable manufacturing may be defined as a system that integrates product and process design issues with issues of manufacturing, planning and control in such a manner as to identify, quantify, assess, and manage the flow of environmental waste with the goal of ultimately reducing the environmental impact to that of the self-recovery capability of the earth.
The National Convention aims to provide a platform so that the experts, technocrats, the OEMS, the user industries and academicians will meet together and exchange the latest developments in the field so that the emerging technologies will be implemented and results in enhanced productivity and quality.
The objective of the Conference is to identify and analyze the different scopes for implementation of advanced technologies and practices for manufacturing sustainability in Engineering Industries.
Engineering Professionals from different industries, Academic Institutions, R&D Organisations, Government Departments and Entrepreneurs are hereby invited to submit their manuscript in line with the following three Themes and Sub theme embraces the Theme of the National Seminar.
