Pre-Conference Workshops
On 15th January 2020 Pre-Conference Workshops will be held. The general aim is to share the research views with colleagues and students and to interact about the current status of the field. Traditionally, Psychologists were preoccupied with diagnosing, treating, curing and remedying the psychological problems. However, we would like to take this opportunity to discuss how we can prevent the human behaviors to become pathological and chronic in nature. The major emphasizes of the workshops would be on prevention rather than cure. The Pre-Conference Workshops will be conducted on the following topics:
- Etiology of a Criminal: Nature or Nurture : What makes a person Criminal? People who commit crime are born or they are influenced by environment to commit crime?
- Family Counselling: A Holistic Therapeutic Approach: A form of psychotherapy that focuses on inter-personal functioning of the individual member of the family and its impact on the mental health and the well-being of the members
- Forensic Evidence: A Boon to Accurate Evidence Representation in Courtroom: Forensic evidences are the most crucial elements of the criminal justice systems and most acceptable evidence in the courtroom. They are helpful in proving the case ‘beyond the reasonable doubt’. They add scientific rigour and robustness to the evidence process. Unlike the testimonial of the witnesses, forensic evidence can not be altered.
- Motivational Interviewing for Positive Behavioural Change: Motivational interviewing is a therapeutic strategy to elicit an individual’s intrinsic motivation to initiate and maintain positive behavioural change.
- Subjective Well-Being: Enhancing Mental Health: The understanding of Subjective Well-Being can be very beneficial to lead a rewarding life in every sphere of an individual’s life both internal as well as external. The understanding of SWB and strategies to optimize it (based on the work of Sirgy, 2002 and Eastern approaches) would facilitate participants’ learning to apply these strategies and deal effectively with both internal and external environment.
- Positive Psychological Interventions:Towards Preventive Mental Health in Youth: Are young people carefree and happy? What can be done to promote mental health and happiness among youth, a significant part of the Indian population.
- Intervention Planning and Designing in Sports Psychology: The workshop aims to introduce the participants with the concepts related to sports psychology and its application in the sporting field. Participants will learn about the concept such as periodization, time management and goal conceptualization.
- Person-Fit Recruitment a Major Challenge at Workplace: Combating the Problem through Competency Based Assessment: Competency based assessment enables an HR professional of placing the right people in the right job. An incorrect placement can lead to reduce productivity for companies’ high turnover, lower worker moral, inflated training base and troublesome law suits brought by disgruntled ex-employees.
