Education 5.0: Challenges and Prospects for Academic Libraries

The Association of University Libraries in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nazarbayev University Library invite you to the 12th Eurasian Academic Libraries Conference (EALC) with the theme Education 5.0: Challenges and Prospects for Academic Libraries which will be held at Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan) on 19-20 October 2023.

The EALC-2023 is intended to become a platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and experience of academic libraries in support of Education 5.0 as a new stage of the global educational development devoted to a more human perspective to learning, including social and emotional abilities to turn digital transformation into a tool for social transformation and promote lesser environmental impact with greater health and safety. The Conference will feature distinguished researchers and engaging speakers that can provide a venue for scientific discussion, constructive exchange of ideas, and best practices through oral presentations. 

Call for Papers

The emergence of the new phase of industrialization known as the Fifth Industrial Revolution (Industry 5.0) calls for the educational system to keep pace with the changing demands of the time. Dubbed Education 5.0, this new stage of educational development focuses more on humans in many aspects to be more creative, innovative, and motivated. While technology is seen as a valuable tool, it acts more as an enabler to prepare future-ready individuals capable of standing the test of time. 

The program committee invites paper submissions in the field to highlight these practices in a changing world. The topics include:

1. Impact of Education 5.0 on Libraries;
2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Libraries;
3. Internet of Things (IoT)
4. Industry 5.0 and Libraries;
5. Education 5.0 and Society 5.0;
6. Industry 5.0 and Information Ethics;
7. Smart Libraries; 
8. Library and Librarian 5.0;
9. Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity in Libraries;
10. Academic Libraries and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
11. Hybrid and Hyflex (hybrid flexible) Services in Libraries;
12. Media and Information Literacy in Libraries

Submission Guidelines

Participants are invited to contribute papers such as research and case studies aligned with the theme and other relevant aspects. The Program Committee encourages a full paper submission. All accepted papers will be notified and included in the conference proceedings. 

1. Details such as author/s names, designation, affiliation, and email addresses should be included. 
2. The paper should not be published or presented elsewhere and should be written in English. Kazakh or Russian.
3. Papers will undergo blind review by at least 2 experts in the field. 
4. An informative abstract with less than 500 words should include the purpose of the study, methodology, findings, practical applications, and a statement of originality (the value of the paper).
5. In submitting full papers, authors should register and create their EasyChair account and upload papers using this conference paper management system. Ensure you submit in the correct conference with this acronym (EALC 2023). 
6. Papers should be double-spaced. Limit the number of words to less than 5,000. Use Times New Roman with font size 12.
7. Include a brief biographical note containing less than 50 words.
8. Use APA style (7th ed.) for referencing and citation.

Presentation format

1. The committee would appreciate receiving presentations using MS Powerpoint.
2. If other than MS Powerpoint, please let us know before 30 September 2023.

Accepted papers must be presented by the author/s during the conference. Authors will be given 20 minutes each to present and 10 minutes for Q&A.
