Submission deadline | September 22, 2018 |
We would like to warmly invite you to CSBio2018, which is based in Bangkok Thailand on 10th-13th December 2018. The conference will provide a forum for researchers, instructors and students interested in applying systems and mechanistic approaches on "Big Data" to better understand "Life Sciences".
Advances in next-generation sequencing and computer sciences are providing unprecedented insights into biological mechanisms ranging from identification of genetic determinants implicated in cancer development, to expression of plant proteins implicated in drought tolerance. This conference will explore tools needed for analysing Big Data, as well as their latest applications on health and agriculture.
The conference will offer a valuable training ground through a pre-workshop and provide networking opportunities for researchers across disciplines relevant to bioinformatics and systems biology.
Submission Guidelines
We welcome submissions from all areas relevant to the main themes of the meeting, for both conference proceedings and short abstracts. All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. For each submission, authors will be asked to select the conference themes ("Tools for Big Data", "Big data for better health", "Big data for better crops", and "Other applications in Life Sciences") as well as technical keywords that best describe their works. The following formats are welcomed:
1. Short/Extended Abstracts (submitted for selected oral and poster presentations, and for publications with ACM (Extended Abstracts only))
We welcome submission from both short abstracts (500 words) and extended abstracts (1,000 - 1,500 words). Authors may include 2-3 display items (figures or tables) per abstract. Title, author list, references and acknowledgement are not included in the total word counted. The authors opting a double-blinded review may remove the author list from the text.

**Please convert the file into pdf prior to submission.
Authors of accepted extended abstract may choose to publish with ACM Digital Library. If you are inclined to take this option, we encourage you to prepare the reports and display items in the final format required by ACM to speed up the publication process. More information can be found at https://www.acm.org/publications/icps-instructions
2. ACM Long Conference Proceedings (submitted for publications with ACM Digital Library, and for selected oral and poster presentations)
To be considered for ACM full papers, submission should be 5 pages in length or longer. The proceedings have a summary paragraph, separated from the main text of up to 3-4 sentences, which can have references. This should give a brief account of the background and rational of the study, and summarise main findings. The proceedings are typically 3,000 - 3,500 words of text, begining with Introduction, followed by Experimental and computational details, Results and Discussion. The proceedings typically have 6 or 7 display items (figures or tables). Proceedings can have upto 30 references.
The authors who would like a double-blinded review may remove the author list from the text.

We encourage authors to prepare their papers and display items in the format that is ready for publication with ACM to speed up the preprint process once your works are accepted. More information can be found at https://www.acm.org/publications/icps-instructions
3. JBCB Long Conference Proceedings (submitted for publications with Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (JBCB), and for selected oral and poster presentations) (SUBMISSION CLOSED)
The journal allows a submission of upto 15 pages. As a general guideline, the proceedings should have 3-4 sentences of summary paragraph, separated from the main text. This aims at readers outside the discipline, providing basic introduction to the field, background and rationale of the work, and the main conclusions. Proceedings are typically 3,000 - 3,500 words of text, starting from Introduction to expand the background of the work, Experimental and computational details, Results, and Conclusions. The text may contain a few short subheadings. The proceedings typically have 6 or 7 display items (figures or tables).
The authors who would like a double-blinded review may remove the author list from the text.

**Please convert the file into pdf prior to submission.
We encourage authors to prepare their paper and display items in the final format required by JBCB to speed up the publication for JBCB June 2019* issue if your works are accepted. More information can be found at https://www.worldscientific.com/page/jbcb/submission-guidelines
Proceedings and Abstracts will only be considered from registered delegates. Please use our online submission system and make sure you complete the submission by 22nd September 2018. Your submissions will be assessed by three external reviewers and you will be notified whether your proceedings/abstracts are accepted for publications and/or oral/poster presentations by 15th October 2018.
For each piece of submission, please state clearly a topic that best describe your works from: "Tools for Big Data", "Big Data for better Health", "Big Data for better Crops" or "Other applications in Life Sciences". To faciliate reviewing process, please specify at least 3 keywords that match your submission. You may pick these keywords from the list of topics below.
