CSAW & Competition Overview
CSAW is the largest international, student-run cyber security event in the world, featuring competitions, workshops, and industry forums. Competitions are developed by undergraduate and graduate students who represent some of the leading security programs and academic institutions worldwide.
Founded in 2003 by Professor Nasir Memon (NYU Tandon School of Engineering, fomerly Polytechnic Institute), this confernece aims to raise awareness of security issues and challenges, provide skill-building opportunities and experience, and inspire students to pursue higher studies and careers in this area of critical need. With less than one hundred students competing in 2003, the event has grown exponentially, now featuring a starting round of over 12,000 competitors from across the world.
In the Applied Research Competition, student authors are invited to enter the running for the CSAW "Best Paper Award." With eligibility limited to previously published/camera-ready papers, this competition has a reputation for drawing some of the best security research worldwide.
Finalists from the preliminary review round will be invited to present at their respective CSAW region during Finals, November 8 - 11, 2018.
