Social Computing for Sustainability
10th International Conference on Collaborative Innovation Networks
September 11-12, 2022
Kraków, Poland
CALL FOR PAPERS
The current wave of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the rapid advances in Machine Learning (ML) are augmenting our ability to make predictions by leveraging the power of collective intelligence. Online news, social media posts, e-mails, and body sensors are only a few examples of the myriads of structured and unstructured data sources that can be used to measure, explain, and provide feedback regarding human behavior. Using technologies for natural language processing (NLP), network analysis, voice and face emotion recognition, and virtual reality permits the analysis of fuzzy data on a scale and level of accuracy unimaginable just a few years ago.The 10th International Conference on Collaborative Innovation Networks aims at exploring the impact of AI technologies and automation advancements at different levels: the economy, the broader society, the environment and the business community. We invite your participation in exploring with us the new emerging discipline of Social Computing from a multiple stakeholders’ perspective, including the societal and environmental effects of digital transformation of the global economy, the economic impact of emerging technologies, and the sociological and psychological behavioral side.We welcome papers that provide a critical discussion of the theoretical foundations, the methods, applications and implications of Social Computing, including case studies and working papers. Like any other technology, AI has the potential to be used to promote good or bad causes. This conference aims at promoting an informed debate on how to deploy AI in the context of social computing in ways that enrich society. While technological unemployment is common during any major technological change, and the current Fourth Industrial revolution is not immune, government leaders and the corporate world need to invest in new programs to upskills and re-skill people, especially in industries that highly rely on AI. We also welcome contributions that discuss the need to build systems to prevent data exposure and remove unfairness in AI systems, which can reinforce biases and stereotypes.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Methods and applications of Social Computing
• Ethical implications of AI and the dark side of AI.
• Regulatory frameworks protecting data privacy.
• Institutional programs to upskills and re-skill individuals.
• Measuring Morality and Emotions with AI
• Body Sensing, Voice recognition, Face Recognition and Emotion Recognition
• Social and Semantic Network Analysis
• Theoretical Foundations of Social Computing
• Sustainable uses and applications of Social Computing
• Application of language generators and transformers in social computing
SUBMISSION
We invite papers in three formats:
• Full papers – Submit max 20 pages describing completed research results or case studies.
• Extended abstracts - Submit 400 words about research in progress.
• Workshops - You are also invited to submit proposals for two-hour interactive workshops, to engage participants in active hands-on experience. We encourage submissions of hands-on workshops rather than purely academic ones.
If you plan to submit a Workshop proposal, please include the following: (1) Title of the Workshop (2) Description (Rationale, Goals, Benefits for participants) (3) Length (max 2 hours) (4) Max Number of Participants (5) Short Bio of the Workshop Facilitator(s)
Submit your paper, abstract or workshop proposal at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=coins2022
