Construction in the 21st Century (CITC) is an international conference series that brings together researchers, academics, industry professionals, and practitioners from around the world to exchange knowledge, share innovative research, and discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the construction industry.

CITC promotes international collaboration and the advancement of research and practices in construction engineering, construction management, infrastructure development, sustainability, and emerging technologies. The conference provides a platform for presenting original research, exploring innovative solutions, and strengthening connections between academia and industry.

The 16th International Conference on Construction in the 21st Century (CITC-16) will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, September 13–16, 2027, continuing the conference series' commitment to advancing knowledge, innovation, and collaboration within the global construction community.

Submission Guidelines

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.

CITC-16 welcomes research contributions addressing emerging challenges, innovative solutions, and advancements in construction engineering, management, and technology.

Full Papers: Original research papers presenting theoretical developments, empirical findings, case studies, innovative methodologies, or practical applications relevant to the conference themes.

CITC-16 welcomes submissions across a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:

• Construction Engineering and Management: Project and program management, construction scheduling, cost analysis and control, construction contracts, lean construction, quality improvement, and leadership.

• Emerging Technologies and Digital Innovation: Artificial intelligence and machine learning, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Construction 4.0, robotics, automation, 3D printing, drones, blockchain, and extended reality.

• Sustainability and Infrastructure: Sustainable design and construction, infrastructure systems and management, smart cities, modular construction, structural design, and innovative construction materials.

• Construction Safety, Education, and Professional Practice: Construction safety and health, engineering and construction education, ethical and legal issues, international construction, workforce development, and women in construction.
