Conference on Advances in Catalysis for Energy and Environment (CACEE)
February 12-15, 2020, at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai
Climate Change is a serious threat to the planet and the living beings. One of the main cause is the increase in the atmospheric CO2 level. The source of excess CO2 is from the burning of fossil fuels (vehicles, industries and many more). Several excellent protocols have been reported for capture and conversion of CO2 to fuels and chemicals; however, low product yields, catalyst instability, high pressure/temperature requirements, and a need for external hydrogen gas, are some of the main concerns of the current protocols for use of CO2 in our daily life.
On the other hand, a sustainable way to solve the energy problem is to generate alternative energy sources such as renewable electricity by using solar cells or hydrogen generated by photo- or electrocatalytic water splitting. However, the storage of the generated electricity, as well as hydrogen gas, is challenging, preventing the development of these technologies.
Nanomaterials and Catalysts can resolve these critical challenges. They are no longer just a field of academic curiosity but an emerging field to take on the challenges of energy and environment. Nanomaterials and Catalysts making significant scientific and technological contribution for achieving the target of “net-zero-emissions energy systems” to stop climate change.
This conference aims to bring together scientists working in the emerging areas of materials and catalysis. The conference will provide the much needed platform for exchange of ideas and develop collaboration among scientists in the field. We hope to bring together active researchers in the area to provide the impetus needed to this vibrant field of research by interfacing different branches of science in one platform.
Conference on Advances in Catalysis for Energy and Environment (CACEE-2020) will be the 2nd conference in the series. 1st conference took place on January 10-12, 2018. Conference had total participants of around 250 and 45 Invited Speakers. It was sponsored by various industries (SHELL, Reliance, Tata, Icon, Jeol etc), government agencies (DAE) and academic societies (ACS and RSC).
