Submission Guidelines
Online Submission
All abstracts of papers and posters to be presented at BROCAS must be submitted using the EasyChair system.
Formatting Guidelines
- Identification: All abstracts must remain fully anonymous. They should not contain the names of the presenters, nor their affiliations or addresses, or any other information that may reveal their authorship. Please make sure that your files do not include your name in the metadata (document properties).
- Number of submissions: You can submit one single-authored paper and one co-authored paper, or two co-authored ones.
- Length: Between 250-300 words (excluding title & references). Please state the word count of your abstract at the end. Also, you are required to mention at least three keywords pertaining to your abstract.
- Formatting: Please note that the abstracts should clearly state the research questions, approach, method, data and (expected) results.
- Set the page size to A4, with 2 cm margins on all sides, single spacing and use Times New Roman 14 pts. bold for the title and 12 pts. regular for the abstract body.
- Also, use the Leipzig glossing convention for inter-linear morpheme-by-morpheme glosses. More details on this can be found here. (Hyperlink this URL: https://www.eva.mpg.de/lingua/resources/glossing-rules.php).
- For transcriptions, please use the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet). For more details, see here. (Hyperlink this URL: http://www.internationalphoneticalphabet.org/ipa-sounds/ipa-chart-with-sounds/)
- Please use the APA (American Psychological Association) style for citations and references. More details regarding the same can be found here. (Hyperlink this URL: http://www.apastyle.org/learn/quick-guide-on-references.aspx ).
- Accepted File Formats: To make the abstracts maximally accessible to our reviewers, apart from the EasyChair requirements also attach a Portable Document Format (PDF) file during the submission procedure (Please note that you will have the option to attach a PDF file in the EasyChair abstract submission process). However, if your abstract is accepted, you will be asked to supply an editable file (e.g. MS Word or Libre Office) for us to be able to include it in the Book of Abstracts.
N.B: Only abstracts submitted through EasyChair will be reviewed. No other forms of submission (e-mail attachment, hard-copy etc.) will be entertained.
