The 25th International Conference on Business Process Management (BPM 2027) will take place in Leuven, Belgium, on 5–10 September 2027.
The International Conference on Business Process Management (BPM) is the premier forum for researchers and practitioners in the field. The conference embraces the interdisciplinary nature of BPM. Accordingly, the conference aims to bring together outstanding research contributions and diverse perspectives from the fields of computer science, information systems engineering, and information systems management. The objective is to enhance and refine the existing portfolio of theories, methods, and tools for managing and improving business processes.
To accommodate the diversity of contributions, the BPM conference is structured into three tracks: Foundations, Engineering, and Management. Each track covers different phenomena of interest and research methods. Accordingly, each track has specific evaluation criteria, a separate track chair, and a dedicated program committee. The track chairs work together with the consolidation chair to align the tracks. Authors should consider the typical audience of each track. This helps in selecting the right track and shaping the work according to the expectations of that audience.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must present original work that has not been published previously and is not simultaneously under review at another journal or conference.
We welcome full research papers contributing to one of the three conference tracks:
Track I: Foundations welcomes conceptual, theoretical, algorithmic, and methodological contributions that advance the foundations of BPM. Empirical evaluation is desirable but not mandatory. Contributions must demonstrate technical quality, rigorous reasoning, and clear advances over the state of the art.
Track II: Engineering welcomes novel artifacts and systems that address concrete BPM problems in business environments. Contributions must have at least prototype maturity and include a rigorous empirical evaluation, together with a critical discussion of limitations and threats to validity. Contributions using AI must go beyond the mere application of existing techniques and justify the adaptations required in the BPM context.
Track III: Management welcomes research examining BPM from organizational, socio-technical, psychological, managerial, or societal perspectives, with a strong emphasis on empirical research. Contributions should advance understanding of how BPM concepts and underlying information systems deliver organizational and business value.
Each paper must be submitted to exactly one track.
Papers must be written in English and formatted according to Springer’s LNCS formatting guidelines. Submissions must not exceed 16 pages, including references and appendices. The LNCS template must not be modified: changes to margins, font sizes, or line spacing are not permitted, and space around figures, tables, captions, and headings must not be excessively reduced. Papers exceeding the page limit or visibly deviating from the template may be desk-rejected without review.
The title page must contain the paper title, a short abstract, and keywords. The paper must clearly state the problem being addressed, the objective and contribution of the work, the main results, and the relationship to existing research.
Papers must be submitted electronically in PDF format through the BPM 2027 EasyChair submission site.
