While teaching courses in e-commerce, we have realized that there are no books/material available in Saudi Arabia that teaches from local perspective. The teaching material is not local and all examples are of foreign companies mainly from America and Europe. Hence we feel, there is need to have teaching material that is Asia/Africa region especially MENA (Middle East North Africa) region relevant.
The planned edited book is expected to bring out the book that makes reader understand e-Commerce from Asia and MENA context. We expect to have examples from region-based companies, customers, culture, political environment, and so on. This book can act as primary text for e-Commerce course for undergraduate as well as graduate/postgraduate level programs. This can also act as additional recommended text for students who are following other referred textbook in e-Commerce, wherein this book will provide the additional information to reader about the regional context of e-Commerce.
We are choosing the edited book format wherein we plan to rope in different authors who having expertise in their respective field and will be able to provide the best possible material to our reader. Here, we will also utilize the services of authors who are associated with the MENA region, thereby getting the expertise of local area. This is also likely to help these contributing authors to recommend this book in their respective institutes.
The topics that are covered will include the managerial, technological, legal, taxation and other strategic dimensions of e-Commerce. We also intend to provide examples that illustrate the practice of e-Commerce in MENA region.
