EcoCity World Summit 2021
Satellite Conference-Cairo CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
The Longest Running Summit On Sustainable Cities, Now Holding a satelite conference in collaboration with cufe architecture department
After more than a year of Covid-19 pandemic striking the world with traumatic events, increased global death rates, pause of normal socializing activities, change in the world view and effects on economy and nature of global cities, it is worth investigating the after-effects of the pandemic on local cities regarding aspects of Health and Resilience.
A healthy city, according to WHO; is “one that is continually creating and improving those physical and social environments and expanding those community resources which enable people to mutually support each other in performing all the functions of life and developing to their maximum potential.” While, according to the OECD Resilient cities are cities that have the ability to absorb, recover and prepare for future shocks (economic, environmental, social & institutional). Resilient cities promote sustainable development, well-being and inclusive growth.” It is believed that there is no more urgent time to investigate the potentials of enhancing Healthy and Resilient local cities, than this current era, when post-pandemic challenges are pushing our communities to achieve healthier and more resilient modes of the current situation.
In this regards, it is a pleasure to announce the call for contributions for the satellite virtual conference “Innovative Solutions for Post COVID City Practices”, ArchCairo 2021, as a satellite conference in accordance with the agreement between CUFE Architecture Department and Ecocity World Summit 2021. The conference is an excellent opportunity for professors, scholars, researchers, and students to exchange ideas, agendas, guidelines and frameworks for Post-Covid city practices, with special attention to the two main themes adopted by the satellite conference.
