The Arabic Linguistics Society, LIU Brooklyn, CUNY Graduate Center/Lehman College, and New York University are pleased to announce the 37th Arabic Linguistics Symposium to be held at LIU Brooklyn (Library Learning Center 122) from February 23-25, 2024.
Papers are invited on topics that deal with theoretical and applied issues of Arabic Linguistics. Research in the following areas of Arabic linguistics is encouraged:
- Linguistic analysis (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics)
- Applied linguistics
- Sociolinguistics
- Psycholinguistics
- Discourse analysis
- Historical linguistics
- Corpus linguistics
- Computational linguistics
- Language acquisition
- Neurolinguistics
- Clinical linguistics
Submission Guidelines
We invite three types of submissions: platform presentations (20 minutes + 10 minutes for questions), panel presentations (3-4 platform presentations on the same topic; 45 minutes + 15 minutes questions), and poster presentations.
Persons interested in presenting papers are requested to submit a one-page abstract in English. Abstracts should include the title of the paper, a brief statement of the research question or topic addressed, and a summary clearly stating how the paper is developed (the reasoning, data, and results), followed by a discussion of the study/panel implication and its contribution. The deadline for abstract submission is November 15, 2023.
