AQUA≈360: Water for All - Emerging Issues and Innovations Virtual Conference Exeter, UK, August 31-September 2, 2021

AQUA≈360 is an international (virtual) conference organised by the University of Exeter, UK. The conference focuses on emerging issues and innovations in various aspects of water and environmental engineering:

1. Water Quality (including, but not limited to, analysis, fate and consequences of conventional and emerging contaminants in surface and groundwater, urban (green) water infrastructure water quality issues, antimicrobial resistance, remote and real time monitoring, intelligent us of sensors, modelling, case studies)
2. Water Quantity (including, but not limited to, studies on urban water consumption and availability, demand supply balance, demand management approaches including water efficiency enablers, greywater recycling and rainwater harvesting)
3. Water Treatment (lab and field scale studies on innovative treatment processes, their optimisation and modelling, energy efficient/solar desalination, synthesis and application of Nano adsorbents/materials)
4. Wastewater Treatment (including, but not limited to, innovations into primary to tertiary biological, chemical and physical treatment processes, nutrients and energy recovery approaches, treatment facilities operation and maintenance optimisation, monitoring and modelling, and use of complex models for collaborative decision-making)
5. Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability (including, but not limited to, evaluation approaches, integrated water management, systems approaches, water distribution (including intermittent water supply) and wastewter collection networks analysis, life cycle analysis, economics, policy, institutional and social aspects, transition from centralised to decentralised systems and vice versa in the developing and the developed world)
6. Water Smart Cities and Climate Change Adaptation (flood and drought risk quantification and management approaches)
7. Water for Food (efficient irrigation, water recycling and reclamation for agricultural use, and desalination of seawater and brackish water for irrigation)

Submission Guidelines

Extended abstracts should be prepared in Word, using the AQUA≈360 template. This template has been designed with specific styles and formats embedded, to ensure consistency across all authors - incorrectly formatted submissions will not be accepted. When submitting your abstract, please rename the template file with the surname of the first author, followed by the institution's short form (and a number if submitting multiple abstracts) e.g. 'Smith-UoE-01', 'Smith-UoE-02').

​Extended abstracts must be written in English and should not exceed two pages, including figures, tables and references. A 300 word summary, which will be printed in the conference programme, must also be provided during the submission process. This does not need to be repeated in the extended abstract.

Extended abstracts must be received by 15^th May 2021. Notification of acceptance and classification will be provided by 14^th June 2021.

Publication

AQUA≈360 extended abstracts and summaries will be made available online on the conference website. 

Authors of selected extended abstracts will be invited to submit full papers for a special issue of the Urban Water Journal. Submissions will be subject to further peer review in accordance with the aforementioned journals' procedures.

Virtual Conference

Owing to COVID-19 pandemics, the organising committee has decided to move the conference to a new date (i.e. 31st August – 2nd September, 2021) and run a virtual conference instead.
