Call for abstracts
The symposium Reading beyond words: Approaches to multimodality in the media (AMiM 2019) will be held at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) on 12 April 2019. The main theme of the symposium is Multimodality. In the contemporary mediatized world, meaning-making often requires attention to more than one mode. The goal of this symposium is to highlight the importance of a multimodal paradigm for investigating the media.
In order to illuminate the diversity in the field, we invite submission on any topic and context relevant to multimodality in the media across disciplines, including but NOT limited to linguistics, education, media and communication studies, film studies, drama and literary studies.
Abstracts can be submitted for lightning talks (8 minutes) and poster presentations. You should discuss the insights/challenges you have with regard to multimodality in your work (in progress). You are NOT required to have completed the analysis of your research data or to present projects near completion.
Proposals for both lightning talks and poster presentations should be no more than 200 words excluding (optional) references. Please include the following in your submission:
- title of the presentation
- name(s) and contact email(s) of the author(s)
- affiliation(s)
- category of your submission: lightning talk or poster
You will need to create an EasyChair account in order to submit an abstract. Acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to the corresponding author. If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.
