AI Village is back for DEF CON 30, and looking for talks, presentations, art, music and more!
As machine learning and artificial intelligence expand into more and more corners of our daily lives, we’re expanding our call for papers this year to include not only our usual security topics, but to also include areas like ethics, privacy, AI in generative art and music, and AI for social good (or ill).
The AI Village is soliciting short and long presentations, as well as workshops, tutorials, and demonstrations, on the uses and abuses of AI in the following areas:
- Computer and network security
- Physical security and surveillance
- Privacy of personal information
- Creativity and innovation
- Generative art
- Ethical considerations in AI research and deployment
- Social impacts of AI
- AI and the environment
As DEF CON is a security-oriented conference, we are biased towards papers that address risk in some fashion, be it using AI to address risks, dangers involved in using AI in a particular context or fashion, in AI models or their underlying technologies, or avenues in which AI models themselves can be placed at risk; however we are not narrowly focused on the topic of information security, and submissions that focus on other applications of AI -- including AI-driven art, creativity, and innovation -- are also welcome.
Submission is abstract-only; we request a summary of the topic, the estimated duration, an outline of the presentation, and what the DEF CON audience will find interesting about it. Abstract space is limited to 20,000 characters. Please be as detailed as possible in your submissions in the space provided -- remember, DEF CON is a hacker conference, not an academic one! Catering your talk to DEF CON attendees will greatly affect your chances for acceptance.
The deadline for submissions is 22 June 2022. We plan to respond to all submissions by email by 8 July 2022.
