Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA
July 6-10, 2020
SAVE THE DATE!
Drexel University’s College of Computing and Informatics is delighted to host the twelfth annual Archival Education and Research Institute (AERI) from July 6th to July 10th, 2020 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Held annually, these week-long working institutes both strengthen education and research and support academic cohort-building and mentoring. Institutes are open to archival studies faculty and students at all levels and to archival professionals and others engaged in archival education, research and scholarship.
AERI advances the field of archival studies by:
- Creating a dynamic community of researchers, teachers and students to help mentor doctoral students and academic staff in areas such as thesis/dissertation preparation, grant writing, publishing, and career development.
- Advancing curriculum development and pedagogy in archival studies at all levels—undergraduate, graduate/postgraduate and continuing education.
- Furthering current research and methodological development inside the academy and in practice through paper presentations, posters and workshop activities.
- Encouraging collaborations nationally, internationally, inter-institutionally, and with communities and professional practice.
We invite you to consider submitting proposals for contributions that fit within AERI’s goals. These could include short papers (15 minutes), panels (1.5 hours, with 3 or more speakers), pedagogical, curricular, methodological, and technological workshops (half- or full day), performances, posters, works in progress or plenary sessions. This year we would particularly welcome methodological workshops. All proposals should include an abstract of 300-500 words, a list of 3 to 5 keywords, and a short (150 word) bio of the presenter.
As AERI is a working institute, and all participants—except for students who have not yet commenced their studies—are expected to contribute. These contributions include but are not necessarily limited to presenting, instructing, mentoring, moderating, and serving as AERI initiative leaders.
Timeline for Application Process:
- February 28, 2020: Deadline for submission of proposals
- March 15, 2020: Applicants are notified of admission and registration opens
- May 15, 2020: Registrations close. No refunds will be issued after this date.
- July 6-10, 2020: AERI
Special events will also be planned for AERI. Information about these events, registration costs, accommodation and possibilities for bursary support will be provided on the AERI 2020 website.
Participants will be invited to submit full papers for publication in a refereed publication after AERI 2020.
