The 7th Annual International Commerce Conference (7th AICC-2020) intends to bring frontward numerous insights on "Organizational Realities: Changing Paradigm of HR" __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The ever-changing dynamics of business environment has become more pronounced today with the fast pace of technological advancement, digital transformation and growing aspirations of the new age workforce. While these developments have posed greater challenges for all kind of organizations, they have broadened the opportunity landscape for business and industry. The prevalence of fourth industrial revolution is being experienced almost in all parts of the world. It is in this context that the organizations are redefining their priorities to grow and sustain. Organizational strategies and structures are becoming more flexible to accommodate and accelerate. The conventional and tested business models are being revamped and refurbished to survive and thrive in a highly competitive business environment.
In this changing business landscape, the function of HR, which remains integral to the successful management and performance of an organization, has also evolved over a period of time. More than acquisition of talented workforce, retaining talent is becoming the priority. Investment in employees is being looked at from the perspective of short-term gains. The contemporary HR landscape has emerged from a combination of new HR trends and practices as well as the digital revolution that the world is witnessing. AI and Machine Learning is driving the evolution of the HR function from being administrative to strategic, by allowing HR teams to solve critical business challenges through smarter technologies. Modernization of HR is not just about doing old things in the digital way but using that transformation to create personalized experiences for employees as well as customers. Though the presence of HR in C-suite discussions is gaining prominence, employees are seen as soft target for cost cutting. The stress levels are on high resulting in increase of workplace conflict. Unionization is facing a low time; organizational democracies are at stake which are driving relooking at employee related laws and industrial relations. Stricter compliance is required to maintain and improve work conditions, assurances and behavior for business sustainability.
Agile workforce, facilitating organizational eco system, conductive work environment, connecting individual meaning of work with organizational meaning shall help drive employees’ performance and boost economic growth. Organizations need to build an HR culture that is compatible with the widespread digital revolution. The opportunities emerging for HR function from the digital transformation need to be balanced with the ethical ramifications of their use. For instance, access to large amount of data should ensure selective application while respecting data privacy and keeping away from data which the organization doesn’t have the right to use.
In the light of the above backdrop, the 7th AICC aspires to provide a platform to researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, corporate leaders and policy makers for deliberations on various facets of the evolving HR function in context of changing organizational realities.
