CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
*** EXTENDED SUBMISSION DEADLINE 17 May ***
Academics, practitioners, researchers, professionals, artists and PhD students are invited to submit abstracts on their experience research for the 7 Experiences2 Summit to be held online on September 2-3, 2021. The summit will be hosted by Breda University of Applied Sciences, in the Netherlands, on behalf of the Experience Research Society.
Launched last year by the Experience Research Society and with the first edition hosted by Aalto University, the 7 Experiences Summit is the venue for different disciplines to meet and share perspectives on experience research. 7 Experiences Summit aims at establishing a more solid multidisciplinary foundation for experience research and increasing the societal impact of experience research.
Our goal with this 2nd edition in Breda is to improve our understanding of experiences and of experience research in its multi-faceted character. Our goal is to further explore all relevant fields of experience research and practice, and to support and facilitate a dialogue among academics and practitioners that enriches the various perspectives and accentuates each perspective’s merits, as well as the potential cross-overs and merging of perspectives. Only in this way can we make full use of the potential of experiences to have a significant (positive) societal impact and of the efforts of the academics and practitioners involved in investigating, designing, staging and managing those experiences.
We therefore invite contributions that address the broad spectrum of experience research in (cross-overs of) different academic disciplines and professional fields.
Such disciplines and fields include, but are not limited to:
- Experience design
- Experience marketing
- Experiences in hospitality and food
- Workplace experiences
- (Serious) game experiences
- Theatre and cultural experiences
- Technology-enhanced experiences
- Employee experiences (also beyond the traditional workplace)
- Aesthetics, sensory, embodied experiences
- Patient experiences
- Learning experiences
- The psychology of experiences
- Antecedents and consequences of experiences
- Factors affecting experiences
- Experience work in practice
- Experiences and business
- Methods to investigate and measure experiences
- Methods to design for and stage experiences
Your contribution during the conference could take multiple forms. For instance:
- Introduction of an experience research field
- Call for research
- Position statement
- Debate
- Case study
- Working paper
- Game
- Demonstration
- Prototype testing
- Performance
- Theoretical groundings of experiences
- Definitions and models of experience
Your abstract should explain clearly what your contribution entails – both content and form, how participants in your parallel session could benefit from or assist you in further development of your work, and why your contribution would be a valuable element in the final program of the 7 Experiences Summit. Your abstract should address all these elements in a clear and concise way, and not exceed 2 pages.
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee
If your abstract is selected, you are invited to present/discuss/show your work in progress during the 2-day conference in an informal, interactive setting that encourages open discussions and constructive feedback across disciplinary borders. The program committee will orchestrate the contributions to parallel sessions in such a way that you will have a multi-disciplinary and diverse audience.
After the summit, authors of selected contributions will be invited to submit an extended version of their work for further exposure. Which form this will take, will depend on the type of contribution submitted.
Important dates:
- Submission deadline: May 17, 2021
- Author notification: June 15, 2021
- Conference: September 2 and 3, 2021
