5th Symposium on CircularEconomy and Sustainability 2024 (5thCESUST2024) provides an opportunity for those interested in any level of Circular Economy and Sustainability applications. From individual business or industrial zones to national, international or global policies that will make feasible the effective application of circular economy principles for achieving a Sustainable Development. Researchers, practitioners and entrepreneurs are invited to submit both empirical and theoretical papers that are broadly consistent in any of the Symposium’s special topics. An ultimate goal will be to encourage researchers to examine the concepts of circular economy under a holistic scale approach.
A major innovation of this Symposium is the bridging of engineering, management and economic knowledge to support the effective advance of circular and sustainability principles bringing together the theoretical, practical, applied and managerial knowledge in order to produce efficient policies. The School of Production Engineering and Management of Technical University of Crete with the Department of Environmental Engineering, together with the Department of Economics and Sustainable Development of Harokopio University of Athens and prominent INFER, will support this interdisciplinary event.
The papers presented at 5thCESUST2024 may be awarded by 2 prizes:
- Best Paper Award (the best paper presented at the symposium)
- PhD Paper Prize (the best paper presented by a PhD student)
The 5th Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability (17-19 June 2024) is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the 26th INFER AC 2024 (18-20 June 2024). The registration fees cover participation to both conferences!
- Standard Early Registration fees (Deadline 24th May, 2024): 380€
- Standard Early Registration fees-valid only for participants (After 25th May, 2024): 440€
Authors should register for the conferences no later than 24th of May 2024 to have their presentation included in the final program. Only simple attendees are allowed to the late registration "25th of May and onwards".
The registration fee includes the symposium material, all lunches during the conference, the Gala Dinner and coffee breaks, as well as participation to both conferences 5thCESUST2024 and 26thINFERAC2024. The registration fee does not include travel and accommodation expenses. All participants have to register. Please note that paper submission is not regarded as a registration.

Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Speakers will not be able to present remotely. The event will only take place in person.
Each presenter is allowed to deliver a maximum of two presentations, with the option to present one at the 5th Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability and the second at the 26th INFER Annual Conference, all under the same fee structure.
An extended abstract is required to be submitted by the 15th of March, 2024 using Easy Chair platform. The extended abstracts that are accepted will be published in the Symposium Proceedings. To submit your extended abstract, please follow these steps:

Venue
All Symposium sessions will take place at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania. The Conference Center of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania is located 3 km south-east of Chania city centre, 13 km from the Chania International Airport(CHQ) and 1 km from the port of Souda. For further information please follow the link (http://confer.maich.gr/info/travel.html).
The city centre of Chania can be reached by local bus. Buses leave every 20min and the bus stop is located outside the MAICh premises on the main street (Souda Avenue). Tickets purchased at any kiosk downtown cost 1,10€ one way. Tickets purchased on the bus cost 2€.Taxis to the city centre cost about 8-10€.

We would like to inform you that in June the hot season begins in Crete. Although we have arranged a variety of reservations at the Symposium Venue (MAICH) and hotels in the city center of Chania, participants should take care to book travel tickets and room as soon as possible.
