The 5th International Workshop on Software-intensive Business: Towards Sustainable Software Business (IWSiB 2022) bridges the gap between software engineering and software business research.
One-day workshop will be held on May 18, 2022 in Pittsburgh, PA, USA and is hosted by 44th International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2022).
The global pandemic has shown, thanks to advanced software technologies, society and businesses were able to quickly respond to environmental disruptions. Software-intensive businesses had to quickly pivot their business model. Also, demands in software-based service offerings facilitating remote work drastically increased and challenged control modes of prior management practices. These exemplary challenges cannot be tackled by engineering or business disciplines alone. The 5th International Workshop on Software-intensive Business (IWSiB) aims to bring together research communities working on topics relevant to software-intensive business to jointly investigate these challenges and to bridge the gap between different research communities.
The workshop will facilitate knowledge exchange through discussions of issues and experiences, to improve research contributions through feedback from the wider community, and to develop new projects between researchers and practitioners. To this end, the workshop will be a mix of research work and industry experience presentations, interactive discussions and group activities, to maximize the potential synergy among the participants from different research and industry backgrounds.
Submission Guidelines
We encourage submissions of contributions describing different stages of research, from position papers to full research reports. We welcome both research and industry papers. The workshop proceedings will be published in a separate volume of the ICSE proceedings, which will be prepared to be archived by ACM Library.
All submissions must conform to the ACM’s formatting and submission instructions. Formatting instructions are available at https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template for both LaTeX and Word users. LaTeX users must use the provided acmart.cls and ACM-Reference-Format.bst without modification, enable the conference format in the preamble of the document (i.e., \documentclass[sigconf,review]{acmart}). We encourage authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers.
The paper length should not exceed 8 pages for research papers and 4 pages for industry reports. It is not possible to buy extra pages.
Please also, note:
- There is no limit on the number of submissions an author may submit, but authors are advised to focus on quality rather than on quantity.
- By submitting to the IWSiB workshop, authors acknowledge that they are aware of and agree that papers submitted to IWSiB workshop must not have been published elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review elsewhere while under consideration for IWSiB workshop.
- The official publication date of the workshop proceedings is the date the proceedings are made available in the ACM Library. This date may be up to two weeks prior to the first day of ICSE 2022. The official publication date affects the deadline for any patent filings related to published work.
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Full papers that describe your research and should not exceed 8 pages.
- Experience reports or position papers that describe your experiences or position and should not exceed 2-4 pages.
Submissions will be first screened on rigor and relevance and then evaluated by at least three members of the program committee based on soundness, significance, novelty, verifiability, and presentation quality.
