Call for Student Poster Submissions!
We are excited to announce the official launch of the 2021 STARS Celebration Call for Student Posters! As one of the main focal points of the annual STARS Celebration, this year's (virtual) student poster session provides undergraduate & graduate students the opportunity to share their recent advances in areas including, but not limited to:
- Computing Research
- Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) Research
- Student-Led BPC Initiatives & Events
- Socially Relevant Computing
- Computing/STEM Education for K-12 & beyond
- Departmental Efforts towards BPC

Call for Workshop Leaders!
Are you passionate about justice-centered computing? Do you want to lead honest discussions on anti-racism, equity, inclusion, and social & cultural considerations in computing? Do you have insights, experiences, technical skills, ideas, or even activities that you'd like to share in an effort to ignite action towards broadening participation in computing? If so, we are more than excited for you to join us as a 2021 STARS Celebration workshop session leader!
We encourage all interested parties to submit workshop proposals on topics including (but not limited to):
- Student-Led Service & Outreach Initiatives for Diverse, Equitable, Anti-racist, and Justice-Centered Computing
- Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) Research
- Designing and Implementing BPC efforts in College Computing Departments
- Tutorials/Workings for Leading a BPC activity/program/outreach event
- Taking the next step to build an impactful BPC effort
- Opportunities, Strategies, Curriculum, and Techniques for Justice-Centered Computing Education
- College, K-12, Adult learners with non-technical backgrounds
- Communal/Institutional/Departmental
- How to lead a STARS Computing Corps chapter at your institution
- Engaging local STARS Alumni in BPC Efforts
- Professional development
- Student (career pathways, advice, preparing for internships, interviews)
- Should I go to graduate school in computing? How to Apply for a Fully Funded Graduate School Experience

Submission Guidelines: Student Posters & Workshop Proposals
All submissions are managed through the EasyChair conference management system. If you haven't used EasyChair before, you can easily sign up for an account upon clicking the link below. When creating a new submission, be sure to select the correct application track based on whether you are submitting a student poster or workshop proposal.
All conference submissions (student posters and workshop prosposals) require a: (1) list of any & all authors, (2) title, and (3) poster/presentation abstract (max of 250 words). We do not require finalized poster design or workshop presentation materials as part of your initial submission; these items will become necessary after all submissions have been reviewed. Upon notification of acceptance, poster presenters will receive follow up instructions via email detailing presentation/poster formatting guidelines, as well as information pertaining to all relevant sessions included on our finalized program schedule and notes on preparation.
