The Ibero-American Network of Researchers on Globalization and Territory (RII) is a research community interested in geographical matters whose members are free to associate and disassociate willingly. More than 1 000 researchers from a hundred different institutions located in 23 countries are current members of the network. The RII comprehends the following structure:
- A Scientific Committee, the highest decision-making body, which holds meetings when international seminars take place, that is every two years.
- A General Coordination as an executive focal point that fosters good communication between the RII members
- An Assistant Coordination to carry out special deeds regarding the RII activities, such as the organization of the international seminar very other year, with the support of the coordinators of thematic bodies, whose members are scholars from different fields.
- The members of the RII are definitely the spirit of the network. It is them whom have freely assembled in the many spaces that have collectively been built.
The diversity of approaches regarding geographical phenomena is a major strength, and it is from those multiple perspectives that territorial problems are analyzed, with priority on the economical, social, political, institutional dimensions, among others. These concerted approximations have made of the RII an appropriate forum for the interdisciplinary analysis and discussion of divergent and convergent standpoints. The RII works closely with the Ibero-American Network of Graduate Programs on Geographical Policies and Studies (RIPPET), and the Ibero-American Network of Globalization and Territory Publishing Editors (RIER).
