Abstract:
Decision making in the health field is a complex activity. Thus, several tools have been developed in order to support the user during this process. One of these tools is the questionnaire approach, used in process models developed in BPMN. In addition, process modeling focused on decisions, such as DMN, is gaining prominence, both in literature and in business environments. In this context, this research aims to analyze the decision-making support provided by the questionnaire approach in process models developed in BPMN and DMN. Thus, these languages were used to model one of the treatments available for patients diagnosed with stroke. A study of the literature was carried out in order to investigate how BPMN and DMN have been used to support decision-making for health processes. Also presented is the application of BPMN and DMN along with the questionnaire model technique in the process for treating stroke. Finally, a comparative analysis of the two techniques is presented, showing that, in DMN, the process presents a considerable gain in the visual simplification of the process when the focus is on the observation of decisions. Also, when applied together with the questionnaire model, it is evident that this technique makes the process of implementing tools to support decision making much easier along the clinical path.
