Abstract:
The region of Rio Mearim, located in the state of Maranhão, Brazil, has ideal geographical and climatic conditions for renewable energy projects, with an extensive coastline, consistent winds and large tidal ranges. In this context, the methodology of this study aimed to reduce the costs of tidal data collection and predict hotspots for oceanic and riverine generation. It demonstrated that hydrodynamic modeling and image processing are viable and cost-effective alternatives. These techniques significantly reduce data acquisition time and provide comprehensive information for characterizing the area of interest, thereby facilitating its analysis.
