Abstract:
Nantes French Maritime Academy (ENSM) developed computer calculations defining berthing criteria for a boat with low friction fender, which is a fender allowed to move with the wave. The aim is now to focus on a boat with high friction fender, which is one able to grip against the boat landing. The objective is to understand how various offshore wind turbine monopiles or floaters mask a maintenance boat from an incidental wave coming from the opposite side. The works performed are: 1. The calculation of the efforts of a monochromatic wave applied against the boat in the case she can heave (low friction) or not (high friction). 2. The formula used for calculating the friction coefficient of the fender against the boat landing. 3. The comparison between the results for accessing against a boat landing with a low friction or high friction fender.
