The market price for electricity at the energy exchange is mainly determined by supply and demand. For many market participants, electricity price forecasting is an important competitive factor. Previous research primarily predicted based on demand. In times of renewable energies this mantra is no longer sustainable. This study primarily looks at the supply-side prediction of the electricity price with the help of deep learning artificial neural networks and thus makes a contribution to the literature. Autoregressive models and regressions serve as benchmarks.
